In order to discuss the content of ‘Bukas Na Paaralan' (BNP), Bulacan State University Student Government (BulSU SG) held its third general assembly led by SG President Patricia Ann Camus yesterday, November 27.

Pres. Camus gave an update about the proposed plan stating the idea of both face-to-face and online set-up for learning modalities is hard to achieve due to problems like lack of facilities and gadgets, slow internet connection, and conflicting schedules.

“Talagang nangangapa, hindi lang ang mga estudyante, even the faculty, sa ganitong set-up, kaya hindi naging madali at hindi rin naging successful ang implementation ng idea na… nagco-coexist yung dalawang ito [face-to-face and online learning],” Camus said.

Hence, the organization decided to have a vote on whether to change the content of the BNP to focus on the implementation of current modalities or not.

Senator John Carlos Ven Castro, who handles the BNP proposal, sets the floor for raising concerns about the said plan before voting.

Meneses Campus Board Member Lei Franzine Gatchalian expressed her thoughts about the current situation of their campus, saying they are not ready for full-blast face-to-face classes in the second semester because of the lack of available classrooms.

"Sa amin po kasi sa Meneses campus is hindi pa po siya kaya na lumarga na full face-to face po sa buong department. Unang una po, kulang po yung facility namin; yung sa room po, kulang siya and hindi po kaya ng 3000 na mahigit na estudyante ang papasukin sa Meneses campus dahil binabaha rin po siya," Gatchalian stated.

On the other hand, Senator Althea Jana Trinidad suggested adding a section in BNP where each college and campus can input their data to disclose their needs.

In the end, the motion to change the content of the BNP proposal was approved amassing a total of 41 yes votes without objection and abstain.
